NetPMD Design & Integration Kicks Off Latest Fiber Integration Project in Escondido, CA

Escondido, one of the oldest cities in San Diego County, California, is on its way to accessing a brand-new, citywide high-speed fiber network that will provide internet services to a population of over 151,000. This inland city—known for its historic architecture and vibrant tourist areas—sits near several tectonic fault lines and experiences elevated temperatures, both of which were key considerations during the project’s planning and engineering design phases.

NetPMD Design & Integration has completed the design for approximately 900 miles of fiber and is now focused on delivering the Active Network part of the solution, as the project moves through the construction phase and becomes ready for service. The deployment includes a new Nokia 10Gig network, street cabinets, city aggregation points, and high-speed fiber backhaul to resilient data centers in Los Angeles.

This citywide fiber infrastructure initiative is the latest FiberCity® project from SiFi Networks. Once completed, nearly every property fronting a public street in Escondido will have access to gigabit-speed internet service—bringing digital benefits, boosting the local economy, and future-proofing the region for decades to come.
