Rockford City starts getting connected!

Following a successful construction launch in June 2023, Rockford, IL residents and businesses are now being connected to their FiberCity® network. This milestone marks a significant step towards transforming Rockford into a modern, connected city. Rockford, home to nearly 150,000 people – 80,000 homes and businesses – is poised to experience numerous benefits from the new fiber network,

NetPMD played a crucial role in this project by delivering comprehensive designs for the entire FiberCity® network, and by spearheading the integration efforts to ensure that the network is seamlessly connected to both residents and businesses. NetPMD is currently program managing the implementation of new Nokia Infrastructure, including Cabinet Landings, Huts, Dark Fiber, Fiber commissioning and resilient Data Centre equipment as a full solution that when complete, will be ready for service.

The introduction of a fiber network in Rockford is set to futureproof the city for generations to come while significantly boosting the local economy. With the citywide network now being connected, every home and business in Rockford will have the opportunity to access high-speed internet. Construction with SiFi Networks and integration with NetPMD Design and Integration will continue across the city as the Rockford FiberCity® continues to connect properties to the network.
