Fibre Designers

NetPMD currently has multiple openings for Fibre Designers to our ever-expanding global team. Successful candidates will be responsible for creating detailed fibre designs for telecommunication networks with a specific focus on FTTP fibre designs.

Responsibilities

Utilize QGIS or other design/GIS systems to create fiber designs including feeder and distribution
Analyze network demand point data to create the most effective design
Provide exemplary project communication and adhere to project / jurisdictional requirements
Provide CAD support for fibre systems through creation of permit plan & profile drawings, construction drawings and conduit designs
Maintain a robust quality control / assurance process

Qualifications

Education

Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license
High school diploma or equivalent; Degree or greater preferred
Reading and understanding maps, as-builts, construction drawings and utility records is highly desirable

Experience

1 or more years of experience with QGIS, ArcGIS, 3GIS or other GIS based systems. Preference will be placed on direct QGIS experience
2 or more years of designing fibre network solutions with an emphasis on FTTX networks
1 or more years AutoCAD experience with a preference to Telecom or Utilities is desired, but not required

Skills

Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and with moderate supervision
Proficient with Microsoft Office products and routine office equipment
Detailed understanding of easements and right-of-ways
