Role Description

NetPMD currently has multiple openings for Fiber Network Designers to join our ever-expanding global team. Successful candidates will be responsible for creating detailed fiber network designs for telecommunication networks with a specific focus on FTTP fiber designs.
Responsibilities
– Utilize QGIS or other design/GIS systems to create fiber network designs including feeder and distribution
– Analyze network demand point data to create the most effective fiber network design
– Provide exemplary project communication and adhere to project/jurisdictional requirements, ensuring successful fiber network design
– Provide CAD support for fiber network systems through the creation of permit plans & profile drawings, construction drawings, and conduit designs
– Maintain a robust quality control/assurance process for all fiber network design projects.
Role requirements
Education
– Valid Drivers License
– High School Diploma or equivalent
– Degree or greater, preferred
– Reading and understanding maps, as-builts, construction drawings, and utility records is highly desirable for fiber network design.
Experience
– 1 or more years of experience with QGIS, ArcGIS, 3GIS or other GIS based systems. Preference will be placed on direct QGIS experience.
– 2 or more years of designing fiber network solutions with an emphasis on FTTX networks.
– 1 or more years AutoCAD experience with a preference to Telecom or Utilities is desired, but not required.
Skills
– Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail in fiber network design
– Ability to work independently and with moderate supervision
– Proficient with Microsoft Office products and routine office equipment
– Detailed understanding of easements and right-of-ways in fiber network projects.
