NetPMD's Mission to make fiber green.

Everything we’re doing to ensure we’re caring for our environment and managing our emissions produced through fiber deployment.

Carbon Neutral Organization Logo

In a world grappling with the devastating effects of climate change, it’s essential for individuals and organizations to step up and make a positive impact. NetPMD are on a mission to mitigate our environmental footprint and combat climate change by going green.

NetPMD has remained committed over the last several years to offset any and all emissions that have been produced by the business through our fiber network projects.

Emission offsetting is the process of neutralizing the number of carbon emissions that an organization emits during its operations, including those from our fiber network projects.

We recognize that whilst we are working to reduce our annual – and ongoing – emissions, we can participate in various schemes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

How are we currently offsetting our emissions?

Solar power

Based in the village of Hoti, Medak in India, this project enables the installation and operation of 56.25 MW solar power.

Solar power is Green House Gas (GHG) emissions free, allowing for all generated power from this project to replace anthropogenic emissions of GHG generated from traditional power plants connected to the Indian grid.

NetPMD is proud to not only be offsetting emissions, but to be contributing to the ongoing production of future-proofed emission free power.

Electric power

NetPMD is supporting the Arca Hydroelectricity power plant on the Solakl River, downstream of the Arca Weir in Turkey.

Water is transferred by means of a channel and tunnel for 6 km to the head pond, and reaches the powerhouse by means of three penstocks. The construction and operation of the Arca Hydroelectric Power Plant is delaying the addition of traditional fossil fuel powered plants to the Turkish National Electricity Grid.

Wind energy facility

This wind farm is located in the Pixley Ka Seme District close to the town of De Aar in the Northern Cape Province of the RSA.

The purpose of this project is to supply the wind-generated electricity to the grid of the Republic of South Africa (RSA). The installed capacity of the wind farm is 144MW and consists of 96 wind turbines and the associated infrastructure.

We are happy to be supporting a GHG emission-free project that is set to offset a total of 33,929 tCO2e/year.

Methane gas capture

The project is both a methane emissions reduction and energy production project.

Methane produced in Kubratovo wastewater treatment plant is captured in common methane tanks serving as a buffer and then supplied to the installed Combines Heat and Power (CHP) gas engines for electricity and heat production, which in turn substitutes both the plant’s electricity purchases from the grid and fossil fuel usage. Excess electricity is supplied to the grid.

Tree planting

This project provides an opportunity to plant trees in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley.

Over the last ten years, the project in Kenya has planted over 200,000 trees and rehabilitated over 160 hectares of the forest helping in restoring the water catchment ecosystem function of the forest.

The project is strongly focused on empowering women, who make up over 50% of the project team.

Our previous work to offset our emissions

NetPMD has joined forces with More Trees, an organization dedicated to reforestation and sustainable environmental practices. Through this partnership, we have actively contributed to the restoration of healthy forests in Madagascar, one of the world’s most ecologically important regions. Madagascar boasts an astonishing 75% of species found nowhere else on Earth, making it a biodiversity hotspot.

Why Madagascar matters

Madagascar’s unique ecosystems and biodiversity are under severe threat due to deforestation. Currently, less than 10% of the island’s primary forests remain intact. Our reforestation efforts in Madagascar are not only aimed at combating climate change but also at preserving the island’s invaluable ecological heritage

The impact of planting trees

Planting trees is a powerful tool for sequestering harmful carbon emissions. Each tree we plant will absorb an estimated 0.30 tonnes of CO2 over its lifetime. To put this in perspective, that’s equivalented to driving a standard car for over 700 miles. By supporting our tree planting initiative, you are directly contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating global warming.

Beyond carbon sequestration

Our commitment to tree planting goes beyond carbon sequestration. Trees offer a multitude of co-benefits, including:

  1. Water Filtration: Forests act as natural water filters, helping to maintain clean and healthy water sources for both humans and wildlife.
  2.
  3. Shelter: Trees provide shelter for countless species, offering a safe haven for wildlife and aiding in biodiversity conservation.
  4.
  5. Food Sources: Forests are home to a wide variety of plants and animals that serve as important food sources for local communities.
  6.
  7. Poverty Alleviation: Reforestation projects like the one in Madagascar also aim to alleviate poverty by providing employment opportunities and sustainable livelihoods to local communities.
  8.
  9. Biodiversity: The restoration of forests supports the survival of unique and endangered species found in Madagascar.

Join us in making a big impact

At NetPMD, we firmly believe that collective small contributions can make a significant difference. By planting trees and supporting reforestation efforts, we are taking meaningful steps toward a greener, more sustainable future. We invite you to join us on this journey and be a part of the solution to combat climate change, protect biodiversity, and improve the lives of communities in Madagascar.

Together, we can make a big impact and leave a legacy of a healthier planet for future generations.
